Locations Desert of Rydess

It was a pretty normal day ‘round first landing. Heard tell of a man named Ahmad who was stable master and needed something looked into. Turned out some of his horses had been ill used by a scout named Zayif, also known as Recaller, who’d brought em back all drained and tired…more so than a trek through the desert should’ve. So we drank and played some cards while we waited for the others to show up.

Emyr, a hobgoblin ruffian, but good enough in a fight. Shili, a cute-as-a-button goblin gal decked out head to toe in armor. We had Lang Fa and Xander as well, a couple human magi. Both of them quicker than spit, and ended up being more than worth their weight.

Well we set out soon as we could and headed into the desert after the creatures. Thankfully they all had me with them, expert tracker as I am, and we found our way to trouble after just a couple days. Got ambushed by some silly lizard with more hunger than sense. Lang Fa took a knock from his horse, but he was able to finish the thing off after we all put our licks in…except for Emyr that is, who was having a hard day. Gods know I’ve been there…

Legend has it that the blood of a dragon thing can give you powers if you drink it, but Shili was along and she didn’t take kindly to pissing on funeral rites or something, so I decided against it.

We investigated nearby and I very bravely lead us to some holes in a cliff that seemed to be a likely place for desert predators to hide, but it was just snakes. Can’t remember why Shili decided to climb all the way up to them and crawl in, but I had her back regardless. The bombs I’d prepped that morning proved pretty effective, but so did my pistol, so we went to work, and this time Emyr did excellent work, though he took quite a beating. It was touch and go for a second, but thanks to Shili’s experience and medical ability Emyr pulled through.

Night passed without incident besides Lang Fa’s horse disappearing in the night. We scouted about and followed it to a rocky outcropping and a small arroyo, where we found these horse suckers draining Lang Fa’s horse like a bottle of whiskey!

So a fight it was. Emyr scared the shit out of one of them, and I did with another, before we laid into them. I took the head off one, but then they were on us. Shili got some hits in, so did Emyr, while Xander took more hits than I was comfortable with, but he got his revenge and killed one in half before the last one ran.

Overall it was a successful mission, their numbers thinned, though one was able to escape. When traveling that part of the desert, keep a tight grip on your reins and a weather eye on your steeds. Never know when they’ll swing back.
