Summary:
Having gotten wind of a serpentfolk plot brewing in the desert at a specific date, the party set out once more to arrive early by ship and scope out whatever was happening to put a stop to it.
Swampy was aware of creatures like flying snakes and titan centipedes in the desert, and the group fought them off in the approach, finding the centipede ridden by a serpentfolk from an unknown desert population who swore that they merely followed orders and knew little of the plot; the party left him and his guardian alive.
They encountered many serpentfolk riding flying snakes and other desert creatures but largely avoided them with Naomi's stealthing help, as well as reluctance to approach desert ruins at the area indicated. Exploring them, the party encountered paintings on the temple walls depicting an important leader and a procession that all animated and emerged to attack as skeletons and spirits, though the snarking leader escaped after the painting was marred. They also discovered a statue of him depicting him with a scroll and cowing the ancient aberrant gods, and followed up on the centipede rider's notes of odd things occurring at sunset in the site by waiting and stepping into the eclipse that appeared at that time, ending up in a pocket of the Shadow Plane where an orchestra of ensorcelled serpentfolk played unceasingly for the leader, a lich slowly opening a scroll in a ritual.
Having a few days, they coordinated to defeat guards and got a dubious ally to remove spirits, but the lich was too strong.
