Loose threads could there be a way to completely stop the attacks to the tower? How were the creatures available to learn a ritual to "capture" the moonlight?

Locations Watchers' Island
Short summary:
Responding a call of help from Ristle, the party sailed to dangerous territory, fighting swarms of rats and strong were-creatures all night. Eventually finding the tower Ristle was trying to defend and helping with its protection. Eventually we managed to kill what it seemed the leader of the creatures and we disrupted a lake where they were storing the powers of the moonlight.

"Wo... Would you like to hear a story of death? Oh god so much death. Maybe a little hope? It's sad at the end nevertheless, don't get your expectations too high.
It all started when a letter arrived to the guild. A person named Ristle was asking for help defending some tower against the attacks of creatures that were becoming steadily harder to repel. It seems that the First Landing helped in the past, that's why it was asking for help to us.
Tali Kinsley was the only person remaining who knew this person from before, she gartered the help of a group of volunteers (including me) and we departed by ship to the island where Ristle called us.
We went prepared with a lot of silver weapons you know? There were were-creatures there we had to fight. No no, they weren't "double were-creatures", it was just part of the sentence. So, where I was up to? Oh yeah, the docks. We gathered with the whole group there and a ship offered to take us to the island. That's good, I'm not a really good swimmer. Also it's cold and dark, it reminds me too much of the deep, infinite, cold, dark and desolate gates of death, but that's not important now.
Two days sailing and we reached the shores of the island, but it's going to be hard to reach the land. Have you ever see a wave made or rats? You wouldn't want too, there were so many rats! How are we going to reach the land if there were so many swarms of them? Well, we decided to descend into a small boat and row towards there, dispersing as many of those rats as we can. We must have killed dozens by the time we managed to reach the shore, DOZENS LITTLE SOULS THAT BANISHED I TELL YOU.
Anyway, we cannot have a moment of peace. Because as soon we descended from the boat, a thrown dagger barely misses us and we are met with threats... I believe, I didn't spoke the language, but it sounded angry. A group of were-rats were surrounding us along many swarms of rats. We killed them of course. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. Except the one that got away. But only for a while. Valdri and Shynntara chased the survivor before it can alert other enemies of our presence. They managed to kill it, great! But we landed on a ambush trap, not great.
Completely surrounded, we fought tooth and nail against were-bears, were-bats, were-crocodiles and regular giant crocodiles. It was harsh, for moments I believed we were really going to die there. There were screams, a lot of them. No no, again, there weren't were-screams, that would be silly. Somehow we managed to kill them all without suffering any loss, but we were beat up already and pretty tired, incredible to imagine that we had just managed to reach this place, it was gonna be a long day indeed.
We patches our wounds and search for the tower in question. I know Ristle said that there were under siege but... What we found was hard to see. A restless attack of groups of creatures to a giant tower in the middle of a field, it was incredible that they managed to resist for so long, surely they must be on their last legs.
Confronting them now would be a bad decision, so we managed to sneak towards the tower unspotted by the enemies and eventually a group of the defenders saw us and let us get in. There, Ristle found us and explained that once a month a giant, incredible strong creature, joins the assault to the tower and last time they barley managed to resist. So we decided to try and find him before the next full moon... Which is tomorrow night, great. But for tonight, Valdri and I do what we can to help defend the fort. Hard work, but it paids off when the tower is standing at the end of the night.
Next day, are you following me with the story? Next day we start our search for this creature. It takes us most of the day to locate where it is while evading the patrols, but we eventually managed to find him. You might think that something good right? Well, it really took us most of the day, so the moon was already up high and... Yeah, it transformed into a giant were-something. No really, I have no idea what creature he had aspects of... But it was horrible and powerful, if we didn't had time to prepare, he could had killed us all. Lucky he didn't, you can deduce that because I'm here talking. HAHAHAAHAHA. that was a joke.
Remember that Ristle told us the creatures were becoming stronger and enraged? Well, it turns out they were capturing moon energy in a lake, crazy right? We destroyed it of course. Not the whole lake, that would be silly too, we broke a thing or two so the ritual was broken.
Then we returned to the tower and everyone was happy. Except the scout that disappeared and probably died searching for the creature before us, he was a friend of Ristle. Also the attacks are still continuing on the tower, so probably no one is happy. Wait!? Where are you going!?"
