Born and raised a disciple of Sekhmet, Vandra grew up in a culture of combat. War is a holy thing to the children of Sekhmet, and the church believes in an ideology of “might is right.” From the moment she could walk, Vandra has been trained to fight as a perfect soldier for the glory of bloodlust. A perfect soldier follows orders, Kills those that need to be, and by no means needs to feel empathy for their target.
Most children of Sekhmet learn to love the kill, the battle, the blood. Vandra felt different, at first she was disgusted and rebellious, but quickly learned that those feelings would be punished quite possibly with death. She stayed quiet, she survived, and found herself at the top of her class. A soldier who kills efficiently with no distraction is better than one absorbed by the glory of blood.
Vandra devoted her whole life to this cause, but during a battle she broke. The blood in her clothes was weighing her down, and she fell. Her militia thought her dead and left her, and when she woke she knew. She had been abandoned, she could never return either, she would be branded a deserter and executed. She now goes to First Landing in search of battle, or in other words, a reason to live.
