Mindy Vanderbeeker is a dark-haired gnomish woman of average stature for that kind with a healthy build that spoke to little enough with serious physical labor and a complexion to match that impression. Her features were open and inquisitive, with her main concealment being a pair of owlish wire-frame spectacles sitting on the bridge of her pointed nose. She dresses in what would be best described as eccentric fashion seemingly focusing on layers of motion with a frivolous collection of frills, ribbons, and motley. On a good day makes her look distinguished and interesting, but on bad day invites comparisons to the workers at a local circus troupe. Which days are good and which are bad are largely in the eye of the beholder.

Mindy is an explorer, a scientist, and a philosopher all tangled together in a knotted clump of intense esoteric interest. She clings to the cutting edge of just about everything, whether it be the most modern crafting techniques, the very newest magical theory, or the latest gossip. To her, perspective is the most important part of learning and understanding, and so unlike some of her peers she is frequently on the prowl to speak with even the lowliest of beings to hear their say on how they believe the world works. In most cases this is unhelpful, but she nevertheless persists in this habit on the off chance that some day there will be someone with a new secret all their own that can be fit into a larger puzzle.

At present, her primary fascination is of course with the New World and everything inside of it. It is the biggest, newest thing around and as such every facet of this environment can lead her down an ever-deepening rabbit hole of clues and connections. Whether these points are imaginary or real has little bearing on the matter, for one must have the daring to go down a ludicrously wrong path some of the time if one is ever to brave the truthful way.

To zoom in, however, Mindy places the bulk of her attention on the Dark Tapestry of the New World. It, like the World itself, is very big and has lots of things in it and as such makes for a good place to start. The fact that the moon is very nearly cracked in half makes it even more attention-grabbing. Someone should probably get on that, which is why Mindy dumped the majority of her travel savings on a workable spyglass on her second day in First Landing.
