Locations: Near Elemental Portal Shrine

We set out for a dungeon near the Elemental Portal Shrine, operated by worshippers of Baphomet who claim to bestow relics upon those who venture through it.

As we journeyed toward our destination, we encountered The Sun-Seller, who appeared and offered us wares, along with complimentary sunrods and a business card. Continuing on, we came across a pack of wolves, which we swiftly dispatched. Eventually, we arrived at a plain wooden trapdoor. Descending a ladder, we found ourselves in a stone room containing a book and a tar creature, which dissolved into a puddle upon our entry. (It is possible the creature later shapeshifted into the woman mentioned below.) When we attempted to read the book, we were transported into a projection of the events described within. We assumed the role of an (unknown) investigator hired by the Dodge Brothers to locate Mr. Arthur Cornthwaite.

Our investigation led us to Cornthwaite’s mansion, where we faced several goo monsters (and a haunt). From what we gathered, the goo originated from a jungle—likely brought back by Mr. Cornthwaite—and was allowed to grow. The deadliest of the creatures was a ball of eyes and mouths, along with the madness it screams. It's possible Cornthwaite was influenced into letting it grow, as the Dodge Brothers did mention Cornthwaite's madness.

We weakened the creature with salt, and defeated it. Upon doing so we were kicked back into the stone room where a woman sat observing our progress. She explained that the ritual we had undertaken generated treasure, offered some of it to us, and mentioned that the real investigator had drowned the creature in salt rather than confronting it directly.
