(backstory)

Gabriel has lived a full life up until his adventuring career, he had a wife and child, and until 5 years ago he didn't even awaken his sorcery, but he knew he had the potential within him since he was a Dragonblood, but he didn't care for it, all his wanted was his family and to care for them. But a part of him always longed for powers. Gabriel was a scholar, he would research all kinds of topics and publish his findings at the city for other scholars and adventurers to read up on, be it theories on the laws of the universe or his findings on the many creatures that inhabit the world. He understood magic, but no school would take him in since he didn't have the aptitude for Wizardry.

His latest fascination was with Dragons, he wondered if meeting one or researching them would help him learn to awaken his sorcery he knew was hidden within him, so he spent years learning about them, dedicating day after day learning all he could about them, after saving up enough money he hired some adventurers to help him find one such dragon in hopes of conversing with it to help him with his magic he couldn't use within him. His new companions led him through the countryside and mountains until they found what they believed to be the dragons lair, entering inside Gabriel began speaking in draconic, hoping to talk to it in its native tongue.

"I need your help, mighty dragon, I believe magic dwells within me, I would ask you assist in awakening that power within me" The dragon, blue in colour, didn't answer for some time, but did reveal itself to Gabriel, who froze in instinctual fear upon seeing it, but held his ground And what, little dragon, could you offer me in return? I have my hoard, you dont look like you have much to give me for this boon you ask of me" Gabriel, steeling his nerves, felt his mind racing for possibilities of what he can offer this dragon to avoid it turning him into a pile of dust with its breath, or ripping him to ribbons with his claws

"I can help build up your hoard in return with the powers you awaken, until your satisfied with what I bring to you? I dont meant to offend you with this offer, but your right, I cant offer you much right now as I am now" This dragon, watched him for another long moment as they considered his proposal, and if it could grin, it grinned with a frightening glint in its eyes "Very well, your powers will awaken with an affinity for Electricity, like my blood does for me, you will work for me for the next 5 years, and by whatever means you see fit, you will bring me gold, gems and magic items to fill my hoard with, and if you dont, I will hunt down your family and kill them before your eyes"

Realising what he just did, Gabriel had no choice but to accept his deal, and upon taking a drop of the dragons blood, his magic awoke within him, he spent some time learning to control it with the dragons guidance, and once he was ready, he spent the next 5 years delving into dungeons and exploring the land for magic items, gold and gems to give to the dragon in return for his magic. It was everything he ever wanted. Once he had given enough, the dragon was content with letting him leave with his life, and bid him farewell, upon returning to his family, he realised that they did not recognise him, he had grown older, his features unkempt and covered in scars from his early adventures.

His wife rejected him, glad to see him alive but angry that he left without saying anything, she had moved on and had to find her own work for their child. broken by what he had done, he left the city in search of a new purpose, wandering the land for something to draw his focus, he gave up his studies and returned to the dragon, who suggested he should travel to the New World, having heard they are in demand for adventurers, perhaps he would find more dragons to interact with?

With a final farewell, Gabriel left the Old World behind, hoping to redeem himself in the eyes of his family, hoping his greed faded.
