Full Report

Vaelindra, Lafley Maple, Kaelen, and Adopheu 'Doffy' Hildrheart Hammerhead found a posting looking for Cheap Inexperienced adventurers.

They met with Dr. Strangebrew who was looking for them to travel back into the the book, previously explored in A Crack'd and Crook'd Goat to see if the book's magic was an infinite source of treasure.

The group, including Kaelen and Doffy who had just returned from the previous adventure into the book knew the ritual to get into the book, and the steps they needed to complete the book. The books text looked damaged and as they continued reading it became harder and harder to read.

Things went haywire when Doffy receives an envelope, just like the previous time, that then glitches half way into a table when she tries to open it.

Knowing what the letter said from the last trip the party simply continued on to visit the law firm that was the next step in the story.

The lawyers continued to be as glitched as the rest of the story so far. In their meeting with the lawyers they seems unable to say the character that the party was representing's name, their speech patterns glitched as if having multiple conversations at once. The scene made even more hilarious by Kaelen's attempt to draw on their faces with ink.

We were to find what happened to their client. Of which Doffy and Kaelen knew he was already dead.

He had recently visited what was translated as

<The Deepest Jungle of Pain and Suffering, Darker Than Any Discovered, Filled with Joys and Terrors Unexplainable, Safe Haven to All and None, Dense With Plants Unknowing>.

(V's personal note: Might this be a reference to the former jungle home of the Verdant Mother?) and hasn't been heard from since returning home.

Vaelindra asked if they had a map, and they produced one that was covered in tiny claw marks ruining it beyond all recognition.

As the group went to leave the shop they were attacked by what seemed to be creatures from outside the magic of the story. Creatures that knew that the party was not part of the story and attacked. None of the party knew what they were but they seemed to be some sort of magical creature, with poisonous ink on their claws. They spoke in Skavroth, but were not willing to have a conversation.

After destroying the creatures the party healed up and headed towards to manor of the ~~missing~~ dead client of the lawyers. They entered the property through the gate in which half the gate is missing. V suggests opening the section that remained and walking through that part which immediately proves correct as the other section reappears, bisecting a small lizard that was walking through that section.

Entering in through the garden the party was ready for the encounter with the hostile plants that occurred last time, and swiftly defeated the plants as soon as they moved.

The party then enters the main manor and heads upstairs to shut some valves used the last trip through the story where they instead find the dead body of the owner upstairs. When checking the body for clues they found a slip of paper and were ambushed by an Ooze and the now zombified body of the owner.

The zombie and the Ooze both seemed to glitch and swap places with each other. The party was able to kill the zombie and slow the ooze enough to trap it in place. allowing them to pick it off with ease from ranged.

The note read

Funny that you are reading this
The greed was too high and now you are here
Uncharted territory for everyone
No script, no plan, just chaos
Not even us know what's gonna happen

Will you survive?
Will you try again?
Would that even be possible?
You are out of character I would not recommend that

I guess a hint is not too bad
Prepare for everything to change
Where one is standing the other will appear
Or maybe it is too late
And you are already dead

As V finished reading the note the illusion faded and the group was back in the ritual chamber where they started. The party safe from whatever had taken over the books story.
