Character Creation & Advancement

This page contains the list of criteria for character creation.

Overview

  • 2014 DnD 5e Rules
  • Starting Level: 1
  • Stat Generation: Standard Array or Point-Buy (27): https://chicken-dinner.com/5e/5e-point-buy.html
  • Starting Equipment: As listed, or take average Gold and buy from: Weapons, Armour, Adventuring Gear
  • All official books released for DnD 2014 may be used for Races, Classes, Subclasses, and Backgrounds
    • Excluding Backgrounds that provide Spells and/or Feats
    • Proficiencies provided by the Background may be freely modified

Please note that any individual player may only have 2 Active Characters, at any point in time. If you already have two characters, and wish to create a new one, you will have to retire one of your Characters. To do so, please get in touch with the Loremaster.

Please also note that GMs may ban individual Races - such as ones with a flying speed or water breathing - on an individual Session-basis, to simplify planning. There is no Blanket Ban on any specific Races.

Leveling Up

For Act 1 of the campaign, characters will be capped at Level 5. You will be informed, when Act 1 ends, and character creation guidelines will change, including starting level for new characters.

Characters will advance at the following rate, on a per session basis:

All advancements past this point will happen on every 4th session.

Please note that you may bank Extra Sessions at Level 5, during Act 1. Meaning you will immediately advance to Level 6, if you've played at least 4 sessions at Level 5, when Act 1 ends.

Multiclassing

Multiclassing is allowed. Please make sure you follow the Multiclassing Rules, when you do.

Please note that stat prerequisites must be met for both the class you are multiclassing into, as well as out of.

Feats

Feats are allowed. Please make sure you meet any requirement listed here too.

Claiming your Characters

If you wish to edit your own Characters' pages, you can:

Join the Blackrock Kanka

Reach out to the Loremaster via Discord, and let them know your Kanka Username, and you will be given permission to edit your Characters' entries.

Otherwise, the Loremaster will reach out to you on Level-Ups, to log any changes.
