F.H. Faulding & Co., better known simply as Faulding, is one of Oceanyka’s oldest and most powerful pharmaceutical companies. Founded in the early colonial era as a modest apothecary and eucalyptus oil producer, the company expanded steadily over the decades, evolving into an industrial powerhouse. By the mid-twentieth century, Faulding supplied medicines across Oceanyka at prices low enough to secure broad popular support.
Yet its reputation shifted dramatically with the 1961 Federal Audit, which uncovered evidence that Faulding had earned vast sums of unregistered income from the production and international distribution of narcotics. These revelations quickly spread, and foreign journalists dubbed the firm the “Faulding Cartel”. Inside Oceanyka, the scandal barely registered, as The Oceanykan Constitution does not prohibit the production, distribution, sale or consumption of any narcotics. To most citizens, Faulding remains a trusted supplier of cheap medicines and an employer of thousands across the continent. Foreign regulators, however, have begun tightening restrictions on Faulding’s exports, and governments placed its dealings under far closer scrutiny. Despite this, the company’s global influence remains considerable.
