The M1921 Thompson is an American submachinegun of the interwar era, chambered in .45 ACP. It gained notoriety due to its popularity amongst street criminals, bank robbers, bandits and especially the American mafia, as one Thompson allowed the solo mafioso to outgun a number of police officers equipped with revolvers, shotguns or simple rifles. The Thompson shipped with a 50 round drum magazine, though 20 round box magazines were also issued. It can be distinguished from its younger WW2-era cousin by the presence of a forward grip and a finned, air-cooled barrel.
