The 3.7cm TAK (Tankabwehrkanone) model 1918 was Germany's first purpose-built anti-tank gun. It was designed to fire high-velocity shells at Allied armoured vehicles encountered in the field, specially designed to penetrate steel armour, though it could also fire high-explosive shells. While other more widespread guns were far more successful, the 3.7cm TAK was used as basis for the development of the 3.7cm PaK 36 almost 20 years later.
