The Edelian Longsword stands as the epitome of Oceanykan swordcraft, a weapon of outstanding precision and adaptability. Born in the forges of Edelia, a city renowned for its swordsmiths and duelling culture, the weapon evolved from the arming swords of the previous era into a true bastard sword: long enough for two-handed leverage, yet balanced for one-handed use from horseback or with a shield.

Its design reflects the chivalric ethos of the Aboriginal Bannerets who wielded it: equal parts duelling weapon and symbol of command. The Edelian Longsword is capable of multiple combat techniques: standard slashing and thrusting, half-swording for armour penetration, and reversed “murder-strike” grips turning the crossguard into an improvised hammer. This versatility made it the favoured sidearm of officers, nobles, and elite retainers in both tournament and battlefield conditions. Though ill-suited to tight formation fighting, the Edelian Longsword excels in personal combat, where reach, control, and flexibility decide the victor.

Longswords are the weapon of choice for the professional warrior. Nothing can compare in their flexibility, if one knows what they're doing. 

EFFECT:
Longswords double the effects of melee-related General Skills (Brutality, Finesse and Parrying).

Half-Swording - Edelian Longsword UA

The Edelian Longsword is an extremely versatile weapon that can thrust, slice and crush, but it does require a great deal of training. One of the most effective methods to counter heavily armoured opponents is "half-swording", which consists in grabbing the blade with both hands without directly touching the edge. This technique allows a soldier to wedge the sword's thrusting point into an enemy's weak points such as vision slits, joints and between plates.

EFFECT:
This weapon's user can half-sword. When half-swording, all melee attacks delivered suffer from a Hard DM, but gain +2 PEN.
Half-swording cannot be done if this weapon is being used One-Handed.
