Nestled in the dusty cliffs overlooking the box canyon of the infamous Stonehell Dungeon lies a weathered network of ancient caves. Once used by prison guards to store supplies and keep watch over the inmates below, these caverns have long since fallen into ruin and disuse.
Now, they are home to the Ghost Beggars, a ragged band of brigands licking their wounds after a brutal clash with the rangers of Ember Bastion. Cloaked in black-and-yellow checkered garb and driven by desperation, these bandits prey upon travelers on the southern road, vanishing back into their stony lair with stolen goods, only to trade them with swamp-smugglers under cover of night.
But there’s more to the caves than mere robbery.
The leader of the Ghost Beggars, the brooding Zorrel Gnast, has his own reasons for staying so close to the dungeon's shadow. Rumors swirl of a lost sister, dark dreams, and a strange shrine hidden deep in the caves—one devoted to a name few dare speak aloud. The caves creak with secrets—some mortal, some otherworldly.
The local rangers, weary of ambushes on the trade road, now call upon bold adventurers to seek out and rout the Ghost Beggars. But the trail leads not just to thieves and outlaws—but to a darkness that may whisper back from beneath the stone…
