🐟 Harefen

“Where the reeds whisper, and the wind plays the bones.”
Population: ~85
Known for: Eel traps, windchimes, intricate knot-charms

Key Figures:

  • Emir Verholt – A leathery-skinned trapwright and master of eel-weirs. Emir’s home is strung with whistling bone-chimes that sing when spirits pass. Known to mutter weather signs as he guts fish.

  • Emine Ravenshade – Elder matron and folk-seer. Though blind, she "sees what the Gann remembers." Locals still bring her silver-scaled stones and thistle root to pay for her ominous blessings.

Culture:
Known for eel-smokehouses, copper amulets, and tales of the “chime curse,” Harefen is the most talkative of the lakeside hamlets. No one speaks ill during windstorms—“the reeds will carry it back.”
