Tomb of Aum-Pharath

📜 Excerpt from the Records of the Pale Lodge

Entry 87.6 – The Black Ziggurat of Aum-Pharath

“Though the ignorant speak of it in riddles and rumor, we of the Lodge know the truth—Aum-Pharath was no mere priest. He was a vessel, a key, and a gate. When the Nest of Otrogg stirred beneath Stonehell, it was Aum-Pharath who performed the Rite of the Twining Seal and entombed the abomination. In doing so, he forfeited his name and flesh, and we believe, his soul. But he succeeded. The Nest slumbers still.”

His tomb, if one dares call it that, lies five miles east of Stonehell, nestled in a cleft of the Vyrkasha Mountains where the trees grow too close and the wind never quite loses its hiss.

It was once a temple—a black ziggurat of sandstone and veined obsidian, carved in foreign geometry. The forest has tried its best to swallow it. Moss smothers the steps, pines have broken the upper tiers, and the local beasts give it a wide berth. Yet the entrance remains untouched, a shadowed mouth beneath serpent-carved stone, flanked by statues that crumble but do not fall.

We of the Lodge have long known its purpose. We do not enter. We watch. We record. We wait.

Treasure hunters have, of course, gone in—dozens in the last decade alone. They seek gold, relics, or secrets better left sealed. Few return. Those that do speak of mirrors that reflect ambition, of undead things wrapped in snake-skin, of games played in blood. Some laugh when they speak of it. Others never speak again.

None have reached the true heart of the ziggurat. None have disturbed the inner sanctum.
None have faced what Aum-Pharath sealed beneath it.

Until now.

If you must go, go armed. Go knowing. Go ready to trade pieces of yourself for progress.
And above all—remember the creed of Yg, etched above the gate:

“Smoke is the breath of the buried. Let it rise.”
