Alegery

It's known that the Alegery are the reason as to why humanity has stories about mermaids and sirens. They are beings that inhabit the large oceans of the world and that in the same vein as humans they organize themselves in nations that lay clay to large patches of underwater land that roughly follow the lines that divide each ocean.

Their society is largely matriarchal in nature, it also being heavily ruled over by the moon with an inmutable lunar caste base system present in all Alegery nations while their forms of governance may vary and even mimic that of land mortals in some cases. This caste system is dictated by the phase of the moon and all mothers only give birth when the moon is highest.

Alegery present many abilities and have a special resonance with essence which allows them to adopt disciplines much like the supernaturals of the land world. They also count with their own "Supernatural" creatures to say in a way. The Alegery can and have in multiple instances shapeshift into the form of a normal mortal, this unique adaptations has allow them to live among and even reproduce with humans for centuries, they have an ever present diaspora in various coastline cities. They also try to establish good relations with the supernaturals present in the area, taking them as their ambassadors and assistants.

While it is certain that they are actually a sub strain of humanity that chose to dwell in the oceans instead that in the land. The Alegery are not categorize as a subspecies of mortals since they do cause dreadwake if a Pure Mortal sees them. But they are not categorize as part of the People since they have a society of their own instead of being a diaspora of beings born or chosen out of humanity. Thus they classified as Others by many.

They say that the story of the little mermaid is actually and old legend of theirs about a princes that was told by an Alegery envoy to Hans Christian Andersen who later adopted it as a story that humanity could read. This claim is contested however and some say that it actually is an older tale of the times of Hitara that survived as fleeting memory. Others claim that its just a story for kids.
