Seated behind several natural barriers but on a convenient road connecting western and eastern Karrnath, Teryk has changed hands several times throughout Karrnath’s history. Despite this, the ir’Teryk family has long ruled Teryk County, asserting independent control of the area despite lacking the national authority that being a proper duchy would provide. For now, Teryk remains nominally a part of Lyodnica even if it lacks a proper connection to the capital of the duchy, Ice.
Banking. Teryk has leveraged its in-the-middle position to become a minor financial hub. These relationships, even if not directly with the ir’Teryk family, have kept the town both relevant and independent. Count Halden ir’Teryk is a member of the Aurum’s platinum concord and secretly a member of the Shadow Cabinet, using his connections and personal wealth to conceal the ill-gotten gains of his fellow conspirators. As such, Teryk has become a holding place for some of the most valuable art pieces in Khorvaire, priceless cultural artifacts protected by some of the best security gold can buy.
