Creature Description

Dragons were guardian creatures created by Arda to act as rulers of the lands. During the 1st era, dragons lived amongst mortals, protecting them from destruction brought upon the war of gods. Being extremely powerful individuals amidst the newborn and confused mortal races, they guided and protected the various races according to their affinity. Originally, there were 20 Dragons, also knows as the Dragonlords. Split equally into Chromatic and Metallic, and two of each individual type. Some pairs ruled together, others were separated.

After the end of the War that broke the world, Dragons became rulers of different mortal groups. They offered their supreme wisdom and intelligence to the mortals, along with protection from other threats. This changed drastically as the mortal races started fearing them and not wanting a new powerful being above them. The mortal races turned against the dragons and hunted them down, triggering the The Great Dragon Hunts. The dragons were removed from their ruling positions. Some say they were absorbed back into the world, others claim they hide in humanoid forms, others say they live in remote places of the world. The truth is obscured by the passage of time, but draconic powers still manifest and Dragonborn still feel their ancestors, foretelling that Dragons might not be a thing of the past forever.

Offspring

While it was confirmed that the dragonlords had offspring, the young dragons that were not tasked with leading mortals, did not involve themselves as much, and followed their parents when the The Great Dragon Hunts started.
