In the annals of Arda's history, there are few events that have left such an indelible mark upon the collective consciousness of a society as the pronouncement of the god Iskar. Known as the god of creation and invention, Iskar was widely revered by the Gnomes, his favorite creations. As such, it was with great anticipation and excitement that the Gnomes gathered around him, eager to receive his wisdom and guidance.
It was during one of these gatherings that the topic of firearms was broached. Iskar had been witness to the evolution of other worlds, and had seen firsthand how the development of firearms had ultimately led to the downfall of these societies. In a solemn and measured tone, Iskar declared that he could not allow such a fate to befall this world. To that end, he would magically ban firearms, ensuring that their functionality would always fail.
The announcement sent shockwaves throughout the Gnome community. who were already getting ideas of how such tools can be improved or evolved, and the prospect of never being able to experiment with them was a bitter pill to swallow. However, Iskar was resolute in his decision, and the Gnomes knew better than to question the wisdom of their god.
It was then that a lone Gnome spoke up. "Can't magic spells do the same?" he asked. The question hung in the air, and for a moment, all eyes turned to Iskar, waiting for his reply.
Iskar regarded the Gnome with a sense of sadness and regret. "Magic is not a tool to be wielded lightly," he said. "It is a force that comes through training, knowledge, and bonds. It is not something that can be given to everyone, and it is not something that can be taken away."
The Gnomes nodded in understanding, recognizing the truth in Iskar's words. For although they were a highly intelligent and resourceful people, they knew that magic was a force beyond their control. And so, they accepted Iskar's decision with humility and grace, knowing that their god had their best interests at heart.
And so it was that firearms were forever banned from the world of the Gnomes. But the memory of Iskar's pronouncement lived on, a testament to the power of wisdom and the responsibility of those who hold it. For although the Gnomes may never know the joys and sorrows that come with the development of firearms, they would always be grateful for the guidance of their god, and the hope that he gave them for a better future.
