Potion (Contest Entry)

The Sweetest Thing

Description:

This potion contains a purple liquid that swirls within its bottle with a rhythmic pulse that you can almost hear. It’s a sweet and earthy tasting liquid, with notes of agave and a peppery finish.

Effect/ Mechanics:

After drinking this potion, the character is compelled to sing a sultry, rhythmic ballad. The character's action is consumed during the performance of the song. If a character elects to end this performance the character must succeed a wisdom save (DC 15) at the end of their turn.

Any creature within 60ft of the performing character must use all its movement to dance without leaving its space and has disadvantage on Dexterity saving throws and attack rolls. While the target is affected by this effect, other creatures have advantage on attack rolls against it. As an action, a dancing creature makes a Wisdom saving throw (DC 18) to regain control of itself. On a successful save, the effect ends. On a failure of more that 5 the creature closes their eyes and becomes deeper enthralled by the performance (now receiving the blinded condition). Any two creatures within 5 feet of each other and also in range of the performance begin to embrace each other and slowly dance together (Both creatures are Grappled if all other size criteria for a grapple are met). The dancing ends when the performer stops singing or can no longer be heard by the dancers.

Usage:

This potion causes a spontaneous dance party. If your social gathering has gotten stale there is no better way to inject it with life and excitement.

This potion can be consumed as an action and its effects are instantaneous. The effect lasts for 5 minutes. Results may vary. Do not consume more than one potion every eight hours. May cause excessive sweating, blindness, shortness of breath, feelings of euphoria, depression, genital discomfort, swelling in feet, knee weakness, hallucinations, paranoia, paralysis, violent outbursts, nausea, anxiety, and memory loss. Please consult a doctor if side effects last long than 24 hours.

Notes:

“The sweetest thing I’ve ever known

Was like a kiss on the collar bone

The soft caress of happiness

The way you walk. Your style of dress.

I wish i didn’t get so weak

Oh baby, just to hear you speak.

Makes me argue just to see

How much you’re in love with me.”
