A straight between the eastern shores of The Radiant Empire and Paelya to the east, the Whispering Straights connect between the Poriya Ocean and the Southern Ocean. The Whispering Straights are a prime shipping route between the Empire and Paelya, allowing spices and gemstones from the Empire to travel to the east, while brining Paelite fruits and textiles to the west.
Tthe Whispering Straights earn their name from the many peculiar rock formations that riddle the waters, that hum with the wind in a sound reminiscent of a whispering or murmuring crowd. Many sailors believe these sounds to be conversations between spirits of the rocks, waves, and winds - though scholars dismiss those theories on the grounds that spirits do not normally converse by means that humans can hear, rather they do it with subtle manipulations of nature, or through exchange of Essence.
The Whispering Straights were the central location of the War of Whispers, where humans and fey from both the Empire and Paelya fought - independently - against the spirits and seafolk of the straights.
