Par'Patal

The Tempered, The Realm-Breaker, The Righteous Rage, The Flame of Rebirth
NPC
For four decades, I toiled and bled for the glory of a heartless king, who took everything from so many.  I bid my time in the dark, all warmth gone from my blood, to better tear apart those whom tried to break us. But I was no beast, for my heart and soul burned instead with the flames of hope and hatred. Patiently forging myself anew, every failure tempering, every success sharpening. With the flames of my will at their purest, I rose up to break the bonds of my people. I did not promise them their lives, and they did not ask it of me. Instead, I gave them spears, hope, and pride. All followed me, spear in hand as I knew they would, for none of you, my people, are weak, and all walk towards fate with the glare of those who would defy it.

I proclaim to the world that I am Par'Patal the Tempered, The Realm-Breaker, The Righteous Rage, The Flame of Rebirth, He Who Would Defy Fate. Stand proud before me, that I may judge your worth. And if you wish to please me, prove me wrong and rise higher, and higher still. Grab your tools, clench your teeth, and build this realm with me.

- Par'Patal to the freed, upon ascending to Godhood.

Dogma

the unending quest for self-improvement, rebirth through peril and adversity, unleashing fury for a righteous cause, destroying that which chains and controls, empathy for those who never lose hope, contempt for the weak-willed, everyone is owed a second chance, but not a third.

The wisdom of Par'Patal says that someone dying without ever having a chance is a crime, someone dying while fighting for himself is a regrettable but honest death, and someone fighting against all odds to rend and destroy a power that controls, is the most beautiful thing of all.

Par'Patal's relationship with his believers is almost like that of a caring but distant teacher, who shows the way but lets one walk it himself, a sort of older brother dispensing some tough love, a hero whose actions and life one should strive to imitate or even surpass.

Followers of Par'Patal with a good understanding of their god's tenets rarely directly proselytize, and understand that their god has no time for attention from the unworthy. Par'Patal will show the way to whom he damn well pleases. Instead, his followers are encouraged to create situations that allow mortals to transform into the people worthy of Par'Patal's touch. For example, a worshipper of Par'Patal might storm a slaver's camp and free the slaves, regardless of background or morality. He would dispense immediate, warthful justice upon the captors, then leave the freed folk to fend for themselves after making sure they had a fair chance. That might involve arming or clothing them, or maybe promising  them work and shelter if they can make it to a specific city or temple on their own.

Instead of killing the slavers himself, a more radical follower of Par'Patal might even free the slaves and give them weapons, but let tgem get revenge themselves, if he judges it to be within their power (even a zealot of Par'Patal would never ask a frail elder to fight a slaver.)  There is no more or less religious position here, only differences in interpretation.  True to himself, Par'Patal never cared to correct either side on his vision, for it would encroach on his followers' ability to chose their own path. Only in instances where his faith is clearly infringed upon will the Realm-Breaker let his discontent be known.
