The Rose Knight
NPC

The Roseguard's fighter, a capable and no-nonsense swordswoman who claimed to be exiled royalty from Nidal.

History

"I would rather die a hero than live a princess."
- Vol Rajani, 4239 AR

The Rose Knight
Vol Rajani took her ancestral blade, the Rosa Argentis, when she was exiled from Nidal. Her family’s symbol was the silver rose, and between the thorny blade and her rose-themed armor, she soon gained a name for herself as the Rose KnightShe battled her way across the Inner Sea region, participating in arena combat and slaying monsters.

Assembling the Roseguard
When Roseguard first came together, after they all leapt to action to stop a rampaging monster at the Absalom docks, it was Vol Rajani’s idea that they join forces, and it was because of her rose symbol that they decided upon the Roseguard as a name. It was originally Vol’s intention to bring her powerful new allies back to Nidal and reclaim her throne, but over time she lost interest in her old goals.

The Battle at Gauntilght

Rumors of the fearsome Unknown and its creator Belcorra Haruvex reached the Roseguard in Absalom. Vol called upon her allies to rally together to defeat the evil sorceress and whatever machinations she put into motion. The party made haste and travelled east to the land-locked lighthouse where the most difficult fight of their lives ensued. As the Roseguard began to turn the tide against Belcorra, she sent out a spell killing the party's rogue, Otari Ilvashti. Enraged, Vol struck down the sorceress. With her dying breath, Belcorra shattered the object in her hands unleashing unsettling magical feedback.

Aftermath
The Roseguard fled from the Gauntlight in terror and returned only once to confirm that their friend Otari had truly perished. They founded the town of Otari nearby atop some old ruins with the intent of taking care of any wandering monsters that might have served Belcorra, and to be ready should Belcorra ever reawaken. As the years passed, the Rose Knight hung up her sword and doffed her armor for the last time. Vol acted as an advisor to Aesephna who became the town's mayor. She would also assist Zarmavdian with his research whenever he asked.

Death

Vol Rajani died of old age in her bed surrounded by her family. She is buried in the Otari Graveyard.
