The true heir, Prince Aurelius, returned from exile with an army and killed the tyrant Vortigern. Aurelius was elected the new High King in 468 AD.
He defeated the Saxons but was unable to push them off the island completely. Skirmishing and warfare against the Saxons continued for a decade, with High King Aurelius' brother and heir, Prince Uther, acting as Aurelius' right-hand man.
Aurelius' confidant and his best friend was Sir Gorlois, the Duke of Cornwall.
Aurelius was killed at the Battle of Salisbury. Witnesses claim he was poisoned shortly before the battle.
