Valley of Argath

Fiery Wasteland

"A valley scoured by fire, where the blackened bones of the past lie buried beneath layers of smoldering ash. There is no life here—only the endless hunger of the beast that calls it home."

The Valley of Argath is a charred volcanic wasteland, a land where the very ground trembles under the oppressive heat of its tyrant—Unknown the Ancient, the scourge of the Frenzied Flame. Surrounded by jagged, ashen mountains and cut deep by rivers of molten rock, this forsaken place is said to be cursed by greed and ruin, a remnant of a civilization long turned to dust.

It is a land of endless dusk, shrouded in black smoke and choking fumes that blot out the sky, making the sun little more than a dying ember behind thick layers of volcanic haze. No map can truly chart the valley, for its landscape is in constant upheaval, reshaped by eruptions, shifting lava flows, and the ceaseless movements of the dragon that haunts it.

To set foot in the Valley of Argath is to invite despair, madness, and an almost certain death.

Geography & Terrain

The Ashen Peaks

Encircling the valley are towering mountains of obsidian and brimstone, their jagged peaks endlessly bleeding smoke. The very stone is brittle and unstable, often giving way to earthquakes and sudden collapses, making any ascent nearly impossible.

  • Molten fissures carve through the rock, spewing plumes of fire that spiral into the sky.
  • Lightning crackles between the peaks, born of the intense heat mixing with the volcanic storms that rage ceaselessly.
  • The mountains are said to be carved with the ruins of an Unknown civilization, their remnants half-buried in the ever-falling ash.

The Rivers of Fire

Flowing through the valley like veins of a dying titan, rivers of magma carve ever-changing paths across the scorched earth.

  • The heat from these flows is so intense that metal melts simply from proximity.
  • Obsidian bridges occasionally form over the lava, only to crack and collapse within hours.
  • Some claim that spirits of the dead Ignin can be seen wading through the molten tides, forever seeking vengeance upon the dragon that destroyed their home.

The Blackened Graveyard

A vast expanse of skeletal ruins, where charred remains of great Ignin structures lie half-buried beneath layers of ash.

  • The ground here is littered with bones, some belonging to creatures that no longer exist.
  • Whispers ride upon the hot winds, murmurs of those who died screaming beneath Argath’s fire.
  • The curse of greed lingers, twisting the minds of those who linger too long, making them believe that treasure still lies hidden beneath the ash.

The Crucible of Argath

At the heart of the valley lies Argath’s hoard, though none can say with certainty where it is. Some claim it is an underground citadel of obsidian, others believe it is buried beneath a molten lake, while some whisper that Argath himself is the hoard, his body infused with the remnants of all he has devoured.

Argath the Ancient – Tyrant of the Valley

"His wings blot out the sky, his fire consumes the world, and his eyes see only gold and ruin."

Argath is not simply a dragon—he is a force of nature, an apocalypse given form, a living embodiment of ruin and greed.

The Eternal Hunt

He stalks the valley relentlessly, soaring through the skies or prowling across the ruined landscape. His hunger is insatiable, and his wrath unrelenting.

  • To enter his valley is to enter his domain, and he allows no trespassers.
  • He hunts not for food, but for the sheer joy of destruction, incinerating anything that dares disturb his realm.
  • The very ground trembles with his presence, and the wind carries the scent of burning flesh wherever he flies.

The Golden Curse

Legends speak of a golden curse that once bound Argath to this valley, placed upon him by the dying Ignin civilization he annihilated.

  • Once, he was a dragon of the heavens, a being of wisdom and majesty.
  • But when he was tempted by the treasures of the Ignin, he betrayed them, incinerating their civilization in a single night of hellfire.
  • As punishment, the spirits of the Ignin bound his soul to the valley, ensuring that he would forever remain trapped among the ruins of his own greed.

Legends & Myths

It is said that Argath still wears the melted remnants of a golden crown upon his brow, a final mockery of his once-noble nature. Some say it drives him to madness, whispering to him in the voices of the Ignin he betrayed. Others claim that whoever removes the crown may finally break his curse, returning him to the heavens—or unleashing something far worse.

Whispers tell of a hidden city buried beneath the valley, untouched by Argath’s fire. Some say it is where the last Ignin fled, vanishing into the depths of the earth. Others believe it holds a weapon powerful enough to slay the dragon—a blade forged in the flames of the Frenzied Flame itself.

There are those mad enough to seek Argath, believing that if they survive his wrath, they will emerge stronger than ever. The Unknown Fire Giants believe that facing Argath in battle is a rite of passage, a trial of strength and devotion to SurturThe Efreet of Sol'Zahir whisper of ancient pacts, where those who offer themselves to the flames may gain Argath’s favor—or be reduced to nothingness.
