Overshadowed by Gemport to the west and Donnermark to the east, Brinestrassen is forgotten by all except shipbuilders, shipping fleets, and individuals seeking to slip into or out of the domains with a minimum of fuss and bother. The recent removal of pirate threats has opened a possibility of increasing both overall trade and their shipyard output. The land's ruler, Lord Cassant Rexthaluthus comes from a family vested deeply in shipping, but is set in his ways and seeks to protect his current interests above all else. If anything, Lord Cassant has been too successful in his mission to preserve the static nature of Brinestrassen. He has a huge (by elfmarked standards) family, with numerous descendants, siblings, and cousins, mainly mariners who make Brinestrassen their home. However, he has never named an heir and tales now say he grows old and feeble. The recent appointment of day-to-day control over Brinestrassen to an adjutant has only served to complicate things; made all the worse by his appointee being a Northland Dwarf.

Adjutant MayorJobaestr Brewcoat has grand plans for the town and a willingness to make sure they're carried out. Her calm demeanor in political and business discussions is reportedly in stark contrast to behavior behind closed doors. Whether true or not, rumors of skulls cracked by her signature iron beer stein serve to keep the locals in line. If she can maintain her position long enough Brinestrassen could soon become a bustling trade hub the rival of neighboring sister cities.
