Gricks were large worm-like creatures that lived away from sunlight, as the light could burn their sensitive small eyes. This lead to them often residing in caves, where they used their natural camouflage to remain hidden in rocky terrain. Their head was composed of a sharp beak surrounded by four tentacles, and generally hunted by ambushing their prey, either in a pack or alone.

Gricks were extremely difficult to spot, with rock-hard skin camouflaging their bodies until the time was right to strike. Once they attacked, they would wrap their tentacles around their foe to ensure they could pierce the target with their beak, usually with enough force to kill an average humanoid. They were adept at climbing and could slither up walls with little difficulty, allowing them to reach ideal ambush positions.
