An animated object was a simple construct created through magic by a skilled transmuter. Generally, they were made when an already-produced mundane object was granted some degree of sensory power and maneuverability. The Spellwork that animated the object could not sustain copious physical damage, and would render the object inert once the spell was broken. If the magic was dispelled, the object's animation would regenerate after a period of time.
Once animated, they moved with surprising agility and strength, carrying out the commands of their creator or following a set of predetermined instructions. Animated objects were often used as guardians, protectors of treasure, or servants in magical households. Despite lacking true sentience, they could perform tasks and engage in combat, using their inherent propertie, such as sharp edges, heavy weight, or pointed limbs,to their advantage. Their sudden animation often startled unsuspecting adventurers, turning seemingly harmless surroundings into potential threats.
