Saint Maria the Redeemer (1302 MH - 1402 MH)
Saint Maria was a voss who lived in Ansach, as part of the Empire of Kaistein. Living on the border of a growing empire, life was far from easy and starvation and crime would be the cause of an early grave for many. Maria was a general, leading a garrison force charged with defending the Kaisteinian border. When she was unable to mount a proper defence against overwhelming numbers, she turned to the city jail to raise additional levies. With the promise of freedom should they assist her, the inmates took up arms and repelled the attack. When the guard tried to re-arrest them, Maria assisted the prisoners with fleeing the city.
It was said she was so
inspiring that many of the inmates chose to stay with her, even as she
lead them to the army, forming a penal regiment of sorts. Wherever she
went, Maria repeated
this feat, gaining a sizeable following until her death in battle in
1402 MH.
