Unsurprisingly, the Emulats are considered to be a heathen belief by Papal Decree and practice is illegal in most Cathirian nations. This has not stopped the Emulats from operating within the Imperium however, and, while the theology may seem absurd on its face, powerful individuals claiming to be Emulat knights have been linked to a range of destabilising actions. The most famous and very public example was during the Conclave LXIV, that was held in the newly consecrated Bishopric of Orwicce outside of the Papal State for the first time. The new venue for the Conclave drew international attention, with delegations even coming as far from Capétia. Eight knights, including a former cardinal, overpowered the Papal Guard and attempted to assassinate the Papal-Elect, only prevented by the Most Serene Wardens of the Cresent, the personal bodyguard of the Pope. Occurrences like this would often be glossed over, but the sheer number attendants made this impossible and highlighted the threat posed by the errant faith. The 'Gathering of Eight' has been one of the greatest boosts to the Emulat's numbers and also accounts for the largest number of knights yet gathered.
Other Faiths
Emulatatis is far from popular in non-Cathirian nations too, as the Emulats do not discriminate with who they try to topple to take power. Known uprisings have occurred in Kedoma, Hythnetic Geltvyre, and Tullus, to name a few making the world for an Emulat an eminnently hostile one.
The Cult of Irolig
Also worshipping Thersten, the Cult of Irolig view him as a divine mortal. As such, they hold the belief he is dead and any suggestion otherwise is heresy of the highest order. The Cults followers actively hunt and seek to destaiblise the Emulats, although thankfully seldom cross paths.
