It is unknown exactly how changelings came to be in Seniogum, and they have many names; Shapechangers, Shifters, the Neverknown. ‘Changeling’ is how they refer
to themselves. Some say they are cursed, some say they are blessed, sceptics argue it is freak mutation in genetics, but whatever the case may be changelings are, by all accounts, exceedingly rare. Humanoids, (and it appears that only humanoids become changelings), who discover themselves such often learn to keep it a secret. The ability is not just something that can sow distrust or animosity to those around them, but also marks them as a person of interest, and there are many powers, not all friendly,
that would seek to exploit a changeling for their own ends. Many changelings live life as normal, (if often very attractive), individuals often only revealed as such on their deaths. Aside from their unique abilities, changelings
are physiologically identical to their native species.
