The Urubu is an ungulate resembling a wild swine or peccary. It has a bristly cool-gray coat with an ivory mane running down its head and neck, and taupe and ice-blue longitudinal stripes along its legs and flanks. Its eyebrows, a fringe of fur along the chest and belly, and a tuft at the end of the curly tail match the mane. Blue spots framing its mulberry-red eyes, and the blue tips of its large forward-tilted ears, are bordered in taupe; there are horizontal taupe stripes across its pink-tipped snout; and it has two small white tusks. Its stubby legs end in four-toed hooves.
