The mighty Edge Empire thrives from the Edge Basin to the Highlands, bordered by the Great Woods and the Sea. Its capital city, Edge Capital, gleams as the crown jewel of the known world.
Forged through conquest and politics, the Empire is a tapestry of diverse cultures and peoples, woven together under the unwavering might of the Empire. Though recent whispers of lands beyond suggest otherwise, the Empire remains firmly embedded in the minds of its citizens as the entirety of the world, or at least all that truly matters.
At the helm sits the Everlasting Flame, an undying title passed down through generations. The current Flame, a young man barely tasting adulthood, recently ascended to the throne upon the sudden passing of his father. Imbued with an almost divine aura, the Everlasting Flame carries many names: The Everfire, The King of Truth, and countless others whispered in reverence.
The Empire flourishes on a foundation of scientific advancements, bountiful harvests, and robust internal trade. While vast fields nurture life within its borders, Edge’s true exports are treasures of exquisite craftsmanship: Clay and Fey-Glass, wondrous polymeric creations, and finely wrought tools adorned with gems chiseled from polymer.
Gemstone Currency:
The Edge Empire wields its unique currency, boasting thin, translucent discs resembling polished gems. Minted in the capital, each coin bears the Everlasting Flame's visage on one side. The other side tells a story, its design reflecting the coin's value and purpose.
Spires
These deep blue coins shimmer like twilight, their backside etched with the Soaring Spires, symbols of the Empire's ambition.
Spires are the most valuable coins and rarely grace ordinary pockets.
Flames
These red coins sport diverse backfaces depending on the time of their minting, depicting scenes of the grand arena, epic desert conquests, or even a royal wedding!
They are commonly used among the wealthy and are often nicknamed "Cherries" for their red color.
100 Flames are worth 1 Spire.
Stars
Pale yellow coins, like shimmering sunlight. Stars depict the three suns on the other side.
They are the most used coin among the poor and common folk.
10 Starts are worth 1 Flame.
Beads
Solid black coins like polished obsidian. They lack ornate back designs, displaying the Living Flame's image on both sides.
They are the lowest coin minted by Edge.
10 Beads are worth 1 Star.
Beyond the Edge Empire:
The minted Edge coinage has spread throughout the world and is currently the most commonly used coinage everywhere in the known world, and certainly within the Edge Empire.
The Ronayu Empire is rumored to have a different coinage system.
