Not far from Blind Man's Pass, scaling various cliff faces rises one of the most ambitious scientific contraptions of its time, the Great Lift. It was constructed as a way to avoid Blind Man's Pass and provide safer passage for travelers and goods from Edge Capital to the various markets of the Highlands and back.
It is a series of immense lifts that can lift over 10 tons and has room for at least 100 people. Between the various lifts (four throughout the journey upwards) are wide safe trails, leading from one perch to another. Large breams and constructions are built upwards across the cliff faces, an immense monument to the relentless ingenuity of the Sajani people.
Travel using the lifts is usually reserved for large merchant companies or official retinues of military, diplomats, and nobles, as operating the lifts is a very expensive endeavor. Thus, the common merchant or traveling folk, unless able to pay exorbitant sums or somehow weasel their way into an established company, are still forced to travel through Blind Man's Pass. Sadly though, as travel through the lifts, which is much safer and quick (about half a day), is now the most often used means of traversing the Great Rise mountains, for those who matter, at least, Blind Man's Pass has been neglected in recent years, it is rarely patrolled, and more dangerous than ever.
