Lily's Silverpond

In the town of Tilley, a folk tale old as time tells of on some nights, a pond reflecting the moon's brightness can appear, and that placing ones hand in it, one can retried an object imbued with the moon's magic. This pond is commonly referred to as the Lily' Silverpond, named after a child who went missing one night in search of the pond. She was found a few days later in the countryside, silverfied (turned to silver). Mages and clerics were unable to bring her back to her human form.

Lore

Once upon a time, in a small village nestled in the rolling hills of the kingdom of March, there was a pond that was known for its shimmering, silver waters. At night, when the moon was full and bright in the sky, the pond would seem to glow with an otherworldly light, as if it were filled with liquid silver.

Many people in the village were curious about the pond and its strange properties, but they were also wary of it, for they had heard rumours of people who had gone too close to its waters and never returned. Despite this, the lure of the pond was too strong for some to resist, and one night, a young girl named Lily decided to investigate the pond for herself.

Lily was a brave and curious girl, and she was determined to find out the truth about the pond. She waited until the moon was high in the sky, and then she crept out of her house and made her way through the tall and dark paths of the fields, until she reached the edge of the pond.

She stood at the water's edge for a moment, gazing at the shining silver surface of the pond. Then, summoning all of her courage, she reached out her hand and carefully dipped it into the water. To her surprise, she felt something smooth and cold brush against her fingers, and when she pulled her hand back out of the water, she was holding a gleaming silver fork.

Lily was amazed and delighted by her discovery, and she quickly realised that the pond was a magical place where lost and forgotten treasures could be found. She spent the rest of the night searching the pond, and by the time the sun began to rise, she had collected an entire set of silverware, each piece shining and perfect as if it had just been polished.

Over the weeks, the secret of the silver pond spread throughout the village, and many people came to try their luck at finding treasures in its waters. Some were successful, while others returned empty-handed. But for Lily, the memory of that magical night at the pond remained with her always, and she knew that the treasures she had found there were more valuable than any amount of silver or gold.

However, it was later discovered that the treasures were never lost, but being magically taken from the people's homes. When this was found out, the village turned on Lily and blamed her on theft and witchcraft. Despite being a child and not responsible for the pond's magic, she was executed and thrown in the pond, and the pond was filled up with earth and stone, so that no one would ever be able to use it's magic again.

Knowledge of the original events was lost to time, with only the legend of Lily's silverpond surviving.
