Assault Arrow

Ammunition

The Assault Arrow is a masterfully crafted piece of ammunition designed to unleash devastating ranged attacks. At first glance, it resembles a typical arrow, but upon closer inspection, the jagged, serrated tip and faint arcane runes etched along its shaft reveal its true nature. When nocked and fired, this enchanted arrow undergoes a magical transformation, splitting into multiple projectiles mid-flight, allowing the archer to either concentrate their firepower on a single foe or spread the assault across several enemies.

500-1,000 gp per arrow (depending on availability and craftsmanship)

The origins of the Assault Arrow are shrouded in mystery, with some claiming it was created by an ancient elven archmage to defend against overwhelming hordes, while others believe it was the invention of a reclusive dwarven fletcher who sought to revolutionize ranged combat. Whatever its origin, the Assault Arrow has become a prized weapon for elite archers and those who can afford its high cost.

Special Features:

  • Multi-Target Strike: Upon firing, the Assault Arrow splits into five separate arrows. The archer can choose to direct all five arrows toward a single creature or distribute them among up to five different targets within the weapon’s range. Each arrow requires a separate attack roll against the target’s Armor Class.

  • Enhanced Damage: Each arrow that successfully hits its target deals an additional 1d8 piercing damage, on top of the regular damage dealt by the weapon. This means that if all five arrows hit a single target, the Assault Arrow can potentially inflict significant damage.

  • Concentration of Power: If the archer chooses to focus all five arrows on a single target and all hit, the target takes the combined damage of all five arrows, making this attack devastatingly effective against high-value or heavily armored enemies.
