Scalegrip Dagger

Dagger

The Scalegrip Dagger is a finely crafted weapon specifically designed for hunting dragons. Its blade is forged from dragonsteel, a rare alloy known for its durability and effectiveness against draconic creatures. The hilt is adorned with intricate scales carved into the grip, providing a secure hold for the wielder. The dagger's sleek, lethal design is complemented by its lightweight and perfectly balanced construction, making it a formidable tool in the hands of skilled dragon slayers.

The Scalegrip Dagger is valued at approximately 8,000 gold pieces due to its specialized design, exceptional craftsmanship, and effectiveness against dragons.

Forged by an unknown blacksmith called Drago Thul, the Scalegrip Dagger was created to arm dragon slayers. Each dagger was imbued with powerful magic to aid in the slaying of draconic creatures. The intricate scale carvings on the hilt are said to be modeled after the scales of the first dragon ever slain by the guild's founder. Legends speak of the dagger's ability to pierce the thick hides of dragons and deliver fatal blows to these fearsome creatures.

Special Abilities:

  • Dragonbane: The Scalegrip Dagger is particularly effective against creatures of draconic kind. When this dagger strikes a creature that is considered draconic (such as a dragon, dragonborn, or other draconic creatures), it deals an additional 2d10 piercing damage. The keen edge and specialized design of the dagger allow it to exploit the weaknesses of such creatures, causing greater harm.
  • Embedding Strike: On a critical hit with the Scalegrip Dagger, you have the option to embed the dagger deep into the target's flesh. By choosing to do so, you relinquish the dagger and leave it lodged within the target's body. As a result, the target suffers ongoing damage. At the start of each of the target's turns, it takes 1d4 + 2 piercing damage until the dagger is removed. The embedded dagger serves as a painful reminder of the critical blow dealt by the wielder.
  • Dagger Removal: To remove the embedded dagger, the target or another creature must use an action and succeed on a DC 17 Wisdom (Medicine) check. This check represents the skill and precision required to safely extract the dagger from the wound without causing further harm. Once the dagger is successfully removed, the ongoing damage ceases.
