Scroll of Radiant Protection

Spell Scroll

The Scroll of Radiant Protection is a powerful tool in the hands of any who would do battle against the forces of darkness. It is said that this scroll was created by a powerful order of paladins who sought to protect their fellow warriors from the horrors of the undead. Legends say that those who wield the scroll is able to call upon the power of the divine, manifesting a radiant shield of holy light that protects them from harm. While the scroll is revered by those who fight for the light, it is also coveted by those who would do evil. Many tales tell of dark wizards and necromancers who seek to possess the scroll in order to pervert its power for their own dark purposes. As a result, the scroll is often hidden away in secret places, guarded by the most dedicated of paladins. Those who wield the Scroll of Radiant Protection do so with a sense of duty and responsibility, knowing that the fate of the world may rest on their shoulders. But with great power comes great danger, and those who are not careful may find themselves consumed by the very darkness they seek to defeat.

Effect: This scroll has a radiant symbol etched onto it. When activated, it casts a protective aura around the caster, granting resistance to radiant damage and advantage on saving throws against spells and effects that cause radiant damage. The scroll can only be used once, and the aura lasts for 1 minute.

Crafting Requirements

Crafting the Scroll of Radiant Protection is a complex and challenging process. The following materials are required:

  1. Holy Water: 5 vials of blessed water obtained from a temple or a high-ranking cleric.
  2. White Dragon Scales: 2 scales from a young or adult white dragon, representing purity and resilience against elemental damage.
  3. Gold Ink: A rare and expensive ink made with real gold dust, used to inscribe holy symbols on the scroll.
  4. Radiant Crystal: A gemstone imbued with radiant energy, found in deep caves or guarded by powerful celestial beings.

The process of crafting the scroll requires a skilled scribe or wizard to spend several weeks in a quiet and consecrated space, inscribing sacred runes and symbols onto the parchment using the gold ink. The scales and crystal must be placed in a special ritual circle and purified with the holy water before being added to the scroll.

During the process, the crafter must make a Religion or Arcana check (DC 20) to ensure the spell is properly inscribed and the ingredients are aligned with the divine power of the spell. Failure in this check will result in a corrupted scroll that may cause harm to the user or even summon dark beings.
