Some even believe that using the scroll will result in a curse or other form of punishment from the gods or other powerful entities. Despite the dangers and taboo nature of the Scroll of Life Drain, it remains a coveted item for those who seek power at any cost. Its dark allure has tempted many a mage or wizard down the path of necromancy, leading to their ultimate downfall. Some mages who acquire a scroll generally keep as a last resort.

Effect: The caster targets a single creature within 60 feet. The target must succeed a Constitution saving throw (DC 16), or the target takes 8d8 necrotic damage, and the caster regains hit points equal to the damage dealt. However, using the spell has a price. The caster gains a level of exhaustion.

Crafting Requirements

The crafting requirements for the Scroll of Life Drain are as follows:

  1. A vial of blood from a sentient being. The blood must be fresh and drawn by the crafter themselves.
  2. A diamond worth no less than 1,000 gold pieces.
  3. A black candle made from the wax of a cursed tree.
  4. A sacrifice of a living creature that possesses strong life force, such as a unicorn or dragon. The sacrifice must be made at the moment of the scroll's completion.
