The Karlstain Diary

Book

This notebook belongs to the Karlstain family, it is a leather-bound book with iron frames and a steel lock that keeps it tightly shut. The cover is adorned with the family crest emblazoned in the center. The pages are worn and yellowed with age, and some of them are filled with delicate handwriting in ink that has faded over time.

  • The notebook contains a detailed history of the Karlstain lineage and their old home in the city that once were, Vindrik, which is now known as the Highmarsh. The pages recount tales of battles, political alliances, and the struggles of a noble family trying to maintain its power and status after the city's fall.

  • The notebook is also detailing William Karlstain's contact with the Arcane Academy that are the most intriguing. The noble seems to have been in communication with several prominent members of the Academy, including the headmaster himself. The notes speak of discussions about a research for an arcane artifact, and even the possibility of the Academy assisting the Karlstain family in their endeavors.

  • The most exciting part of the notebook, however, is the mention of an artifact that Lupricall Maximus believes could help William in his quest towards reclaiming his ancestral home. The details about this artifact are scarce, but William seems to have been in contact with several experts in the field of magical artifacts, seeking their advice and assistance in locating it.

  • The last page of the book stands out by being written with magical ink and in elvish while the rest of the notebook is in common tongue. The text on the page says "I call upon you, my friend, to open yourself to me!" in elvish.
