Beetle Beacon

Utility
The Beetle Beacon is a finely crafted lantern of Dwarven design, typically made of sturdy metal and adorned with intricate engravings reflecting the craftsmanship of the Dwarven smiths. Instead of a traditional flame, it contains a small, bioluminescent bug native to the depths of underground caverns. This bug emits a soft, eerie light that closely resembles the warm glow of a conventional flame, illuminating the surrounding area with a gentle radiance. Despite its lack of warmth, the light provided by the lantern is highly valued by Dwarves, particularly those who delve into the depths of the earth in search of precious minerals and resources.

Abilities: The Beetle Beacon illuminates an area within a 30-foot radius, casting dim light beyond that range. The bioluminescent bug within the lantern possesses a unique defense mechanism: when the lantern is shaken, the bug can be startled into releasing a blinding flash of light in a 15-foot cone in front of the lantern. Creatures caught within this cone must make a Constitution saving throw (DC 19) or be paralyzed for 5 minutes. This paralysis can be quickly remedied with anti-magical remedies or through the use of restorative magic. The bug can unleash this defensive flash up to four times per day. Once its self-defense mechanism has been depleted, the bug's natural light dims, reducing the lantern's effective illumination range to 15 feet.
