Armor of the Shining Curse

Plate Armor (Requires attunement)

The Armor of the Shining Curse is a breathtaking set of silver plate armor, its surface polished to a mirror-like sheen that seems impervious to tarnish or wear. The armor is adorned with delicate, ancient engravings, though no craftsman’s mark is present, leaving its origins a mystery. Its appearance is so flawless that it catches the light in a way that almost seems to draw the eye of those nearby. Despite its beauty and incredible craftsmanship, the armor bears a dark secret—a Curse of Attraction that forces the wearer to become the focus of their enemies’ attacks.

While the armor's curse greatly diminishes its desirability, collectors and adventurers with the means to break or manage the curse would pay a significant sum for such an exquisitely crafted piece. Its worth can range up to 50,000 gp.

Legends tell of a great warrior who wore this armor into battle, confident in its unmatched protection. However, it soon became apparent that the armor was cursed, as the warrior found himself relentlessly targeted by foes, unable to escape their wrath. Some believe the armor was crafted by a jealous rival, others that it was forged by a vengeful spirit. Regardless of its origin, the Armor of the Shining Curse is both a marvel and a peril.

Attunement

To attune to the Armor of the Shining Curse, the wearer must don the armor and meditate for one hour, accepting the burden of the curse. The curse takes effect immediately upon attunement and cannot be removed unless the wearer willingly breaks attunement, which can only be done by removing the armor and meditating for another hour.

Special Features:

  • Impeccable Craftsmanship: The Armor of the Shining Curse grants a +3 bonus to the wearer's AC.
  • Protective Arrogance: Once per day, the wearer can add their Charisma modifier to their AC for 10 minutes, in turn suffer disadvantage on all attack rolls for the duration.
  • Curse of Attraction: The armor's curse emits a faint magical aura that draws the attention of foes. While wearing the armor, all enemies have advantage on attack rolls against the wearer.
  • Glimmering Draw: The armor's shimmer is so captivating that it compels even the most disciplined of foes to focus their attacks on the wearer. While cursed, the wearer cannot benefit from being invisible, and any creature within 60 feet of the wearer feels an unnatural compulsion to target them first in combat.
