Infernal Reliquary

Wondrous Item

The Infernal Reliquary stands nearly as tall as an average adult human, its bronze surface polished to a muted sheen but bearing faint signs of tarnish and wear. Its intricate carvings depict celestial and infernal iconography, an unsettling blend of beauty and menace. Once a sacred relic of the Silver Dominion, it was renowned for its ability to deter unholy creatures. Now, locked away beneath the Tytan Cathedral in Moorn within a reinforced glass case, it is shrouded in secrecy and fear.

Scholars suspect that a catastrophic event corrupted its divine enchantments, twisting its purpose. Though forbidden to use, legends persist of the infernal power it now holds.

Properties:

  • Imposing Relic: The burner is nearly immovable without the use of magic or great physical strength (weighing 500 lbs).

  • Twisted Functionality: When lit using incense worth 250 gp, the burner creates a dense, dark smoke that fills a 30-foot radius for 1 hour or until extinguished. Instead of warding off unholy entities as it once did, it invites infernal creatures from their world Tamahirii.

Summoning Effect: Roll a d20 to determine what is summoned:

    • 1-5: 1d4 Imps
    • 6-9: 1 Demon
    • 10-17: 1d4 Devils
    • 18-20: 1 Greater Demon

The summoned creatures are hostile to all other creatures within the area and remain for 1 hour, until slain, or until banished.

  • Infernal Aura: While the burner is active, any celestial or fiend within 60 feet must make a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw at the start of their turn or become frightened for 1 minute. Creatures frightened this way may repeat the saving throw at the end of their turns.

Curse:
The Infernal Reliquary is cursed. Any creature who lights the burner must succeed on a DC 18 Charisma saving throw or be afflicted with a cursed bond to the infernal realm, causing them to be periodically hunted by infernal entities seeking to claim their soul. This curse can only be removed with a Remove Curse or Wish spell or through divine intervention.
