Stoneberry Fruit

Consumable

The Stoneberry Fruit is a remarkably hard and sharp fruit, yet highly nutritious. It grows on bushes in rocky regions and can be consumed raw, though it is best softened through cooking. The fruit is encased in a tough, razor-sharp outer layer, making it difficult for most people to handle. Eating it raw carries the risk of serious cuts from its exterior. As a result, it is common practice to boil the fruit briefly to soften the outer layer, making it easier to bite through. Some people choose to avoid the outer layer entirely, cracking it open to enjoy only the tender flesh inside. The Stoneberry Fruit is a particular favorite of the Crestodon.

Properties:

  • Eating one raw provides enough nourishment for one day and grants advantage on Constitution saving throws against exhaustion for 1 hour.
  • When cooked, the fruit becomes easier to eat, allowing a creature to regain 1d4 hit points in addition to its other benefits.

Drawbacks and Warnings:

  • Raw Stoneberries are difficult to consume. Eating one without softening it requires a successful DC 15 Strength check. Failure deals 1d4 slashing damage to the eater.
