Grown rather than crafted, the Mossroot Staff is a living piece of the deep forest. Twisting bark coils around a core of rich mycelium, and luminous mushrooms bloom softly along its length, casting gentle light in darkness. These staffs are said to grow only in the deepwood glades of Rivermond and Vikholm, tended by fungal sages and myconid caretakers.
The staff is both a weapon and a symbol of balance — life, death, and decay entwined. Rumor tells of one Mossroot that continued growing even after being burned, regrowing from the ashes over decades.
Special Abilities:
- Glowing Shrooms: The mushrooms emit dim light in a 10-foot radius.
- Nature’s Pulse: While holding the staff, you may use it as a quarterstaff. It is considered magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks.
- Spore Burst (Recharge 5–6): As a bonus action, you can release a cloud of intoxicating spores in a 10-foot radius centered on you. Each creature in that area must make a DC 16 Constitution saving throw or be poisoned until the start of your next turn. Creatures immune to being poisoned are unaffected.
- Verdant Resilience: While attuned, you gain advantage on saving throws against being poisoned or diseased in natural environments (forests, jungles, swamps, etc.).
