The islands of the Vaulted Inisa are shrouded in thin mists that cling to their rocky shores. Within the archipelago, the waters and currents make little sense. They twist and meander through the islands here. Each shoreline is bizarre, unique unto itself, filled with strange plants and terrain. From over their shrouded hills and forests echo the tumult of strange beasts; alien sounds unwholesome even in the benighted waters of the Inisa.

At random intervals there arise from the mists and foreign lands great cyclopean ruins; echoes of the Ardruids and bygone peoples. Even in their current state, empty and forlorn, some of the ruins are surrounded by an atmosphere that brooks no trespass. Its as if the original inhabitants could spring from the shadows and the empty buildings at any moment to waylay tomb raiders and treasure seekers.

Each and every island seems to be different; sweep realms of sand, mountains too-perfectly shaped, great expanses of ruined cities and tick jungles. But, they each share a common feature; the inhabitants seem tailor-made to destroy anything that makes landfall here in the Vault.

Geography & History

Geography

A series of isles that are difficult to chart due to the ever changing nature of the Vault. Many have wildly different and even alien environments which defy any real classification.

History

Ostensibly created by the Ardruid Unknown as a place for the Ardruids to safely test and develop their astounding magics and sciences without endangering the greater inisa. Many mysteries surrounded the islands within the Vault, but it was not until AoA 2808 RE that the interior was able to be explored by the intrepid council of Ard Righ Cian an Nathair and his Council of the Teanga Beithir.

Even so, what miracles and horrors they witnessed were a small fraction of what is suspected to be within this island chain. What further mysteries and revelations still linger within is anyone's' guess. However, as a workshop of the Ardruids, many believe them to be suitably powerful objects, divine structures or insane experiments. Of what little expeditions have launched, very few return and their tales carry the weight of legends and madness.

Ecosystem & Species

Ecosystem

Each islands ecosystem is extremely different and unique, even in comparison to the mainland Inisa. They are, however, without exception hostile in some way.

Localized Phenomena

Originally, the Vaulted Inisa were enshrouded by mist with great waves that seemingly target nearby vessels in order to keep the islands within segregated from the rest of the world. With the mists mostly parted and the waves pacified, it seems a new phenomena has replaced them; the space within the archipelago is constantly in flux. This means it is not only easy to get lost and impossible to map the islands, but that many new islands seemingly appear at random.
