Geography
The northern shore of the Edžvej strait is a tranquil expanse framed by the dense pine forests of Opsednamesto and the towering poplar woods of Topolglen. The pine forests, with their snow-covered boughs and ever-present hoarfrost, create a serene and almost mystical ambiance along the water's edge. The poplar woods, on the other hand, rise like sentinels against the skyline, their tall, slender trunks reaching for the sky and casting dappled shadows on the forest floor. This placid north shore is dotted with small, unnamed islands, each cloaked in the same dense vegetation and providing sheltered harbors and secluded spots for travelers and wildlife alike.

In stark contrast, the southern shore of the Edžvej strait is a tumultuous wasteland known as the Unknown. Here, grey dust coats the landscape, and the air is often filled with the howling winds of arcane storms that rage across the dusty dunes. These storms, unpredictable and fierce, cast eerie lights and strange shadows, creating an otherworldly atmosphere. The islands scattered throughout the strait add to the chaotic geography, their barren and windswept shores standing as lonely sentinels against the relentless elements. The juxtaposition of the tranquil northern forests and the wild southern wastelands highlights the dramatic and diverse nature of the Edžvej strait, making it a place of both beauty and peril.
History
The history of the Edžvej strait is marked by the cautious exploration of the Psoglavi, who named it Edgeway. During a brief period of exploration, they attempted to cross the strait, driven by curiosity and the hope of discovering new lands. However, upon reaching the other side, they were met with the desolate and hostile environment of the Summerlands, with its grey dust and arcane storms. The treacherous conditions and the high cost in both material and lives led the Psoglavi to abandon further exploration, deeming the blasted wasteland beyond unworthy of the sacrifice. The inhospitable nature of the Summerlands deterred any further significant attempts, solidifying the strait's reputation as a formidable barrier.
Conversely, the inhabitants of Inis Mona explored the Edžvej strait during the closing days of the War of Spears. Unaware of its harsh winter cycle, they ventured into the strait with their carachs, only to suffer significant losses as the waters froze and the conditions became increasingly perilous. The unrelenting cold and the treacherous ice claimed many ships, leaving the explorers disheartened and wary of returning. Consequently, the people of Inis Mona rarely ventured back, and Etomesto remained largely undiscovered and untouched by outsiders. This lack of external influence allowed the Psoglavi culture and the unique environment of Etomesto to develop in relative isolation, preserving its distinct identity through the ages.
