The Beneath

A place of darkness pressed between the Unformed Lands and the Outer Night. Many claim that it is where the devils truly reside when they escape the mortal realms of Trynnalta. Choosing to hide away in the darkness of the Beneath, their evil and corrupting influence bubbling up into the Unformed Lands as the Fellands. Thus perpetuating a cycle of hellish resurgence across the ever-changing expanse of the elemental planes. The devils turn to the souls of their victims, torturing them endlessly and feeding off the taint of that power.

Many, however, is the tale that it is not devils here, but the Outer Night seeping in. Perhaps, both are true. Devils turned mad by mutterings from beyond who in turn force the souls to listen and drive them mad, among whatever other torture devils offer. Either way, it is an unspoken rule that the Beneath is avoided, even by the gods, making it a safe haven for darker things.
