Overview

Edgewatch is a frontier hamlet and watch post lying 11 miles east of Torven’s Ford and 15 miles northeast of High Hadleigh, straddling the Market Road trade route where open grassland gives way to sparse, wind-bent woods.

Its purpose is not comfort but vigilance. Edgewatch serves as a cavalry refresh and relay station, a border marker, and a forward warning post watching the bog-marshes to the northeast—an unsettled and unhealthy land where fog, reeds, and slow water swallow roads and men alike.

The hamlet consists of a loose ring of small farms, a single roadside tavern, a stables and remount yard, and a stone-and-timber fort with a watchtower rising just high enough to see smoke, firelight, or massed movement beyond the marsh fringe.

Population is roughly 75 souls:

  • ~50 farmers and families
  • ~25 soldiers and cavalrymen, rotating between patrols from Coldwell Reach and Grimwold Marches
